empty hands, open heart

3 day training

Deep inside all of us, there is a place as sure as the dawn, a rich alertnesss to our own grace. The wonderful things about people is that we are helplessly open to the eternal at all times. We could run around all our lives emphatically involved in the synthetic drama, but all it takes is one person to meet us from a deeper place and it can change us in an instant

To touch deeply, we must move from this ground. The practice of emptying our limbs is also an essential one in bodywork. It allows us to feel the other more clearly, and gives their energy more space to be cycled through our presence and back into them without picking up our own baggage along the way. If we bring too much of ourselves to the moment, we can cause confusion rather than clarity.

what is kikokara

Kikokara weaves wisdom from zen thai-yoga massage, reiki, somatic psychotherapy and dance. It is a holistic bodywork practice that finds it’s ground in heartfelt connection, tenderness and pleasure. It is guided by principles of non-forcing, fluid movement and spacious listening – inviting the receivers’ body to unfurl without expectation. Kikokara venerates the body as its own healer, holding all the intelligence it needs to heal itself.  It helps people remember how to let the body lead – how to let this ancient system guide us. The deeper inspiration of kikokara is to reconnect human beings to the broader cosmology of which we a part; it is ultimately in and through the body that this connection is remembered.

what will we do?

This immersion will centre around a set of bodywork sequences that I will guide you through as you practice both giving and receiving. This will be a very practical training – we will learn by jumping in the deep end and ‘doing’. By the end of the training, you will have around 2 hours of sequences that you can begin using. We will also engage in group/solo exercises to develop our sense of touch and kinesthetic awareness.

Trainings go beyond simply learning new techniques and sequences, they offer an opportunity to settle into a new way of experiencing reality, to slow down and discover things you didn’t know you already knew. The wisdom of the body requires spaciousness to reveal itself – a pace that is very difficult to access in modern life. This training will give your body a space to allow its wisdom to move through you, with a community of others doing the same. It will provide an opportunity to come home to your own innate beauty. This homecoming is the essential fuel we need to grow not only as bodyworkers, but also as unique individuals in a troubled world.

It is very important to me that group work is accessible to all people. If you cannot afford this price at the moment, simply include that in your email. I know it can feel awkward to ask, to be vulnerable in this way, but i would encourage you to challenge that: modern life is unfair and we must do what we can to help each other. If you can afford it, you help pay for the people who can’t at the moment. No one will be turned away for financial reasons ❤︎
